News & Announcements

InterAct Story Theatre!

The InterAct Story Theatre is coming to Deal Island Elementary on Tuesday, May 29th. Students will be able to watch the show "The Town that cried Avalanche!" The tiny mountain town of Avalanche, California is rocked with controversy: how can they balance the need for progress with taking care of the environment? And how can they even talk about it when everyone is mad at each other? Can they come together to save the town--before the mountain comes tumbling down? Inspired by Montpelier Elementary’s Grand Prize winning story at InterAct’s 2017 KidStory Theatre Festival. Best for ages 5 and up.

Sports Day

Our annual Sports Day will take place on May 25th all day! Parents are welcome to come join students in the superhero fun! We highly encourage students to bring in their sunscreen/bugspray and permission slip on Friday in a ziplock bag with their name on it.

Future Doctors in 4th Grade

Paging the Doctors in the 4th grade wing....
Ms. South did a hospital classroom transformation to review Math skills for end of the year.Students wore masks, gloves and name tags. Then the dr. interns had to use various math skills in each rotation of the hospital (pharmacy, operating room, bandaging area, radiology, and ER) They performed "surgery" , filled "prescriptions", bandaged patients, analyzed x-ray films, and "stitched" up patients.
What an amazing lesson!

Spring Pictures!

Our spring pictures has been rescheduled for May 8th. Students are to dress in casual attire for these pictures. Order forms will be sent home.
