Students in Ms. Douglas' class are working hard reading and learning about African American inventor, Garrett Morgan. He invented the traffic light!


Schools continue to experience phone outages today, 2/13/24 while repairs are in progress. In the meantime, email any staff member from our school websites or the SCPS mobile app, message us on social media or your student's teacher in Rooms.


SCPS is experiencing a temporary interruption in phone service today, 2/12/24. The outage affects all school buildings, and repairs are currently underway. We apologize for the inconvenience and will send an update when phone service is restored.

Mrs. Miles 5th grade class tested the Law of Conservation of Matter. Through the experiment students found that matter is never destroyed and simply changes states of matter, to “disappear and appear”. To arrive at this conclusion they created Borax Crystals!







Shout out to Mr. Hutt's class for participating in a Root beer float STEM activity. Through team table talk, observations, and recording, students understand the structure and properties of matter before and after they undergo a change and can explain them.





Due to fog, schools will open after a 2 hour delay today, Friday, January 26, 2024 for students, teachers and staff. Essential & FNS staff should report on time or when safe.

Public Meeting Notice: The January 2024 meeting of the Somerset Board of Education
has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 4pm Closed / 6pm Open.


Due to anticipated road conditions, all after school and evening SCPS programs are canceled today, January 19, 2024. The Garland Hayward Center after school program will be open per the normal schedule.
