Earlier in the week, SCPS held the first National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) cohort meeting for teachers pursuing certification in 2024. Recent NBCT recipients, Anna Breland of CHS, and Zachary Bartemy of SCTHS, attended to share their experiences pursuing certification in 2023; offering valuable insights, encouragement and Q&A time for this year's cohort of SCPS educators pursuing certification. Thank you for your commitment to pursue the most respected professional certification available in education designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers! A reminder to all students and families, the work uploaded before the students were released or the packets sent home needs to be completed for each day we are in asynchronous learning. The completed work is how students will be marked present or absent. If work isn't completed, it will be an unexcused absence.

Hazardous road conditions continue to pose safety concerns for school buses at low tide today. As a result, schools will be closed for an asynchronous virtual school day tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, 2024. Essential & 12 month staff should report to their buildings by 8:30 AM.

Good morning CAHS seniors and senior families. Tonight's FAFSA event has been rescheduled to January 22, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. due to the impending inclement weather. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to impending storms, all after school activities are cancelled Tuesday, 1/9 and Wednesday, 1/10. As an additional precaution, schools will open with a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, 1/10/24. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor the situation.

With storms likely to cause school delays and closures this week, SCPS plans to convert the next 3 inclement weather closures to asynchronous virtual school days. Click here for details: www.somerset.k12.md.us/o/scps/article/1399492
